Candidatus philologiae (a degree of 7 years) at the University of Trondhei (now The Norwegian University of Technology and Science, NTNU).

Master degree in sociology of religion (1988).

Dr. Art. 2002 NTNU in Trondheim, Faculty of Arts, Department of Religious Studies. The title of the dissertation was A Sectarian John? A Sociological-Critical, Historical and Comparative Study of the Gospel of John, Philo and Qumran.
